A Perfect Valentines at Home Menu
| February 2, 2013 | Posted by Toddling Mad under A mum's life, Organization, Recipe |
Are you like us and live far away from family, this time of year when it comes to Valentines day unless we’re very organised it means a Valentines date at home once the kids are in bed. Last year we brought a Marks and Spencer Meal Deal for 2, with 3 courses and a bottle of red wine we sat and ate a meal together at the table and turned our dinning room into our own restaurant.
This year I’m going to get cooking myself and make us a feast for the evening, complete with candle light and this year I’m also going to make us dress up like we were going out for a proper meal.
Our menu for the meal:
Garlic (and Parmesan but I will be leaving that part out) bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. It’s the sharing that makes this such a special starter for us. Plus whenever we go out for a meal in an Italian restaurant we always have bread.
Roast Cod with Garlic Butter and seasonal steamed vegetables – I’m not a big fan of fish but my husband loves it. Cod is the one fish that I will eat and as you can already tell we love Garlic so this with some vegetables from the farmers market will be perfect for us.
Going back to the 80′s with our dessert this year and I’m going to attempt to make a Black Forest Gateaux – I remember having these for special occasions when I was a child and the mix of the chocolate, cherries and cream is wonderful and rich.
Pop on over and see what the other Mamas are planning, suggesting and doing for Valentines Day with their husband’s this year with these fabulous co-hosts

Wow, that looks so good! I love that you all are getting dressed up! I just had our first at home date and I made myself get dressed up so that I could get into it. It was fun.
